The perfumed fountains and splendid interiors of the Taj Mahal inspire Chamak by priya kakkar's Set-of-Six Royal Purple-and-White Crystal Bangles. The sextet, made in India, is lush in color and meticulous in handling of materials. The four slender purple crystalline bangles are circled with single rows of alternating deep violet and white Austrian crystals. The pair of identical larger bangles is rimmed top and bottom with flat rectangular silver beads and centered with still more alternating purple-and-white sparklers. So lovely with a sundress and flat sandals by day, these bangles can also shine with a flowing silk dress and platform sandals for evening.
Chamak is the work of Priya Kakkar, a New York-based designer with roots in India. She is a graduate of New York's prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology and began her career working as a senior account executive in the accessory departments of DKNY, CHANEL USA, and Burberry USA.
As a young girl, Priya was fascinated with visiting India and spent time at the local bangle shops in the outskirts of New Delhi, trying on every bangle that was sold. It is consequently no surprise that Priya's line of high-end jewelry is strongly influenced by the rich and vibrant colors of India. By blending the lively traditional character of that land with modern sensitivity she fashions a line of jewelry that gives the wearer something special--the Chamak personality.
