Madeleine Albright, former US Secretary of State (1997-2001) and US Ambassador to the United Nations (1993-1997), wore pins as diplomatic tools or expressions of her patriotism and style. Part memoir, part social history, the temporary exhibit Read My Pins is open through October 2010 in the Smithsonian Castle and showcases Albright’s pins. Our pins and bag reflect those in the exhibit and in our costume collection, National Museum of American History, Behring Center.
